Just read the story in 4WDM and had to sign up, I think this is the club for me, I have been 4wding for 20 years on family trips and have had a couple of 40's and an 80, Mine now has a holden V8 on gas and aux petrol tank, 60s front disc and 45 diffs front and rear,(was semi-float),
hope to get out in the bush soon but have just bought Croydon 4wd/brake and clutch and has been taking up most off my time.

Thank mate, Just got it runing well and suspension handling a bit better, thinking about adding rear coils with the leaves and getting it to ride a bit smoother.

G'day Cammo,
I have heard those add on coils improve the harsh road ride but restrict your articulation.
In trying to achieve the same as you, I fitted a pair of coil over (longer) shocks and removed a leaf from each side, but being a soft top, I think I need to remove another each side, but my ride is a lot softer.
The coil overs really assist with traction at full articulation as the coil overs force your axle down. Opening up your outer spring clamps gives you an extra inch or more and helps the main leaves to twist as well.

Cheers Garry. :occasion5:

no substitute for cubic inches mate  and the batmobile only comes out in low range put her in a straight line and we'll see if the 308 can handle the pace  :finga:

I've got a 16T bender. Nothing special, btu it will do me until I can throw the $$ at a better one. Let me know when you need to bend stuff, because you're not too far away.
